Fall in the Curry House

Happy Fall!

The Curry’s had a lot going on in September. On the 12th, Dave’s youngest daughter Monica married her fiancé (now husband) Michael in a lovely wedding in Cincinnati.

Although Dave’s condition has been worsening, he was able to attend the ceremony (with the help of an awesome aide). Though he didn’t make it through the cocktail hour, we had a lovely family moment when the string quartet played a rendition of a song Dave had composed for his own wedding to Patty. It was a melancholy but beautiful tune, and it felt great to honor Dave on Monica’s wedding day through his favorite medium—music.

In the meantime, Olivia has been working with Dave to get a selection of his more recent songs recorded by a full band and singer, and create some concept art for this late in life “EP.” We can’t wait to share it!

In terms of his condition, Dave mostly rests at home these days, although the Curry’s do have a motorized wheelchair and van that can get him to appointments and around town when needed. He is having more trouble breathing now, and frequently requires assistance from several breathing machines, especially at night. Patty is still managing the bulk of Dave’s care, but we have increased the number of aides and external caregivers who come in most weekdays and soon most nights as well to help.

We’re really thankful at the outpouring of donations to our GoFundMe, which has been used for many expenses already and will hopefully let us get through the next several months with this increased level of care. Feel free to still share that link if you so choose! We are also so thankful for our friends and neighbors who check in on Patty and Dave often.
