Happy New Year
From Dave, to all his friends and family: Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year.
The Curry family cannot express our gratitude enough for all the community who showed up this year to help us through 2025. It was obviously a tough year for us, since Dave’s ALS progressed quickly. 2025 was a year where the changes in his condition meant constantly re-evaluating everything—how he moved, how he communicated, how to keep him comfortable, what equipment we needed at home, and how to support Patty as his primary caretaker as well. Without the support of family, friends, neighbors, and some great home health aides and caretakers we would have had a much tougher time. We want everyone to know that the support you’ve shown to our family in 2025 has not gone unnoticed, and we are eternally grateful for it.
Although it was a very challenging year, there were also moments of joy and happiness. Dave was able to attend his daughter Monica’s wedding, and spend time with all three of his daughters together (and his awesome grandson) that weekend. Dave also finished his first EP album … with the help of an amazing studio musician based in Nashville, he had five of his original songs professionally recorded. You’ll be able to listen to them soon.
Right at this very moment, we just finished celebrating Christmas together. We’re currently watching a Bengals game together, and setting up a device that allows Dave to type out phrases with eye gaze, since he has lost most of his speech. He continues to be opinionated and curious, despite the challenges and changes ALS has dropped at his feet. We look forward to having more time together in 2026, and to hearing news from friends and family. We hope the new year brings all good things to those of you reading along.
